Nölken publishes its twelfth sustainability report for its anniversary year

Nölken has once again demonstrated its commitment to sustainability with the publication of its 2022 Sustainability Report. The Windhagen-based company celebrated its 40th anniversary in the reporting year and shows that sustainable practices are an essential part of its success.

Despite the major challenges in the past financial year, the manufacturer of care products has shown that sustainability is still an extremely important issue for the company's business results and continued existence. Nölken has proven that it can survive even under difficult conditions and has achieved outstanding results in its sustainable business management in 2022.

"The lack of gas supplies from Russia shows that we need to further reduce our dependence on fossil fuels or externally purchased energy. Rising energy and raw material costs also make it clear to us how important it is, on the one hand, to reduce electricity and gas consumption and increase the share of self-produced electricity via our PV plants and, on the other hand, to increase the efficiency of the raw materials we use. Only if we consistently continue along this path can we remain competitive," according to the statements of the management.

The sustainability report underlines that Nölken has succeeded in expanding its commitment to sustainability despite the major challenges of the past year. A decisive factor here: the sustainable energy supply.

Around 60 % of energy requirements are generated from renewable sources (solar, wind, water, biomass). In addition, the installed PV systems and the CHP units have already been able to generate 9.6 % of the company's own electricity requirements. Two more PV plants at the Windhagen site and at the Nowogrodziec site were connected to the grid at the beginning of 2023.
