Manufacturer of hygiene and personal care products with voluntary sustainability reporting according to DNK since 2013 and additionally according to CSR-RUG since 2020
With its DNK statement, which was included in the 2022 sustainability reporting and complies with the criteria of the CSR Directive Implementation Act (CSR-RUG) and the National Action Plan (NAP) for Business and Human Rights, Nölken is fulfilling its commitment to transparent and responsible corporate governance this year as well.
Nölken relies on transparency
Since 2013, the medium-sized manufacturer of hygiene and care products from Windhagen has regularly published its DNK Declaration as part of its voluntary sustainability reporting. Since the 2020 reporting year, the sustainability report, which is almost 50 pages long, also complies with the legal requirements of the CSR Directive Implementation Act. This has obliged capital market-oriented companies to report on sustainability performance since 2017.
„With fewer than 500 employees and as a non-listed company, we are not yet affected by this legal obligation,“ begins Sustainability Manager Christoph Lerbs. „However, through the report according to CSR-RUG, we want to fulfill our duty of transparency and responsibility.“
In addition, the DNK statement allows for a quick comparison with other companies implementing the standard. The German Sustainability Code enables organizations and companies of all sizes to demonstrate how sustainably they act. The 20 code criteria, along with supplementary performance indicators, form the core of the statement. In conformity statements, companies report on their compliance with (comply) or deviations from (explain) the code criteria.

The CSR Directive requires, among other things, the disclosure of management approaches in the areas of environmental and climate protection, employee concerns, and human rights.
In his declaration, Nölken describes concepts, results, risks, and key performance indicators relating to environmental, employee, and social matters, respect for human rights, and the fight against corruption and bribery.
The DNK office has already reviewed the CSR-RUG declaration and acknowledged its formal completeness. You can access the complete DNK declaration here.
