Every year, not only Christmas enthusiasts wonder what the right gift for their loved ones would be, but companies also face the question of what gift to give to colleagues.
Nölken Hygiene Products GmbH has come up with something special for its employees as a Christmas gift this year. In addition to flower seeds, the company gave away honey from its own bee production for Christmas.
Together with the regional beekeeping company Bummelbiene from Oberlahr, the company Nölken installed 5 beehives at its Neustadt/Wied site in the middle of this year, underscoring its sustainable orientation.
Employees not only benefit from the honey but also have the opportunity to attend information events about bees and watch the beekeeper at work.
A contribution to biodiversity conservation
The beehives set up on the company premises contribute to biodiversity protection.
„Without the pollination services of bees, the ecological and economic consequences would be fatal. Therefore, we are proud to offer the bees a suitable place,“ says Christoph Lerbs, Sustainability Manager at Nölken Hygiene Products GmbH.
Biodiversity, meaning the conservation of species richness, refers to the multitude and variety of all living beings. It is not only important for the Earth to remain a diverse and livable place, but also ensures that ecosystems remain functional and that we have the resources we need for our survival.
Unfortunately, biodiversity is endangered due to human activities such as land-use change, pollution, and climate change. To protect and conserve species diversity and our ecosystems, it is important to take appropriate measures.
The company Nölken wants to serve as a role model for other companies and build on this year's measures with follow-up projects in the future.
